Hundreds of years of collective history

Best practice designed by a wealth of knowledge and experience

The Parts Alliance began in 1999, but our history started many years before, with our oldest member forming in 1960. We at The Parts Alliance make a conscious effort to recognise the history of all our members and harness the collective experience they have amassed to form best practice.

The Parts Alliance’s formation was designed to bring its members closer together, becoming stronger as a result of shared knowledge, services and buying power, whilst maintaining the local service that made each member successful in their own right. The Parts Alliance and our members flourished throughout a period that saw huge changes in the landscape of the automotive aftermarket. Moreover, we made and shaped the history of our industry, ensuring the prosperity and safety of, not only our members, but the industry as a whole.

The Parts Alliance investment

2012 saw the beginnings of significant change for The Parts Alliance with the acquisition of members CES UK by private equity firm HgCapital in August, followed by Allparts Automotive in October and then SC Motor Factors in November of the same year. With the purchase of GMF Motor Factors in January 2013, a six month period had seen four key Parts Alliance members receive significant investment by a common owner.

Nexus Automotive International

In January 2014, The Parts Alliance made inroads on a global stage, acting as one of the founding members of Nexus Automotive International, a value focused global alliance of ‘Automotive Aftermarket Leaders’. The objective  is to achieve aggressive growth around the world, with no specific restrictions of channels and territories. To this day, Nexus has strong overall presence in fast-growing markets in Africa, the Middle East, US, Latin America and Asia-Pacific.

Formation of Parts Alliance Group

In April of the same year, The Parts Alliance itself was acquired by HgCapital, leading to the formation of The Parts Alliance Group – a single entity that includes several regional distributor brands as well as centralised departments acting on behalf of The Parts Alliance members and The Parts Alliance Group. Each of The Parts Alliance Group’s regional brands has kept their local identities, whilst associate members remain independently owned active members of The Parts Alliance.

Further acquisitions have followed to maintain The Parts Alliance Group’s fast-paced growth, with CPA, Bromsgrove Motor Factors being purchased in 2014. The Parts Alliance strengthened its position as an aftermarket leader when GSF Car Parts joined the group in 2015, taking the number of The Parts Alliance Group branches in excess of 200. Additionally, in 2016, SAS Autoparts was acquired by the group, bringing over half a century of experience to our family of brands.

The Parts Alliance acquired by Uni-Select

In June 2017 The Parts Alliance Group was acquired from its private equity owner HgCapital by Uni-Select Inc., a Canadian publicly listed, North American Automotive aftermarket distributor.

New owners Uni-Select operate as a market-leader in the USA and Canada, distributing automotive aftermarket parts, equipment and refinish products through a network of 14 distribution centres, 270 corporate stores and over 1,100 independent wholesalers with 3,000 employees generating sales of $1.2 billion USD per annum.
