CES UK was formed in 1984 by two college students and keen motor racing enthusiasts, Howard Warren and Charles Colton. Initially the business supplied exhausts throughout Chester, however within two years it had expanded to become a nationwide distributor. In 1988 it built its new office and distribution centre in Chester, before going on to win the 1991 ADF (Wholesale Distributor of the Year) Award. Then two years later it Gained BS5750/ISO9001 accreditation, establishing itself as a lead player in the automotive field.
CES soon began to distribute all vehicle parts, not just exhausts. And over the following years it grew to open branches in Rhyl, Northwich, Stoke, Crewe and Shrewsbury. In 2002 CES became a member of the Parts Alliance, then known as (UK Parts Alliance), and in the same year it opened three more branches in Derby, Burton and Llandudno, followed by Liverpool and Portmadog in 2003.
Over the coming years CES UK would go on to open more branches. It even built its own automotive training centre, opened by Paddy Hopkirk in Chester. More success followed in 2009 when it received the ADF distributor of excellence award. Not only did CES win the distributor award, but all three ADF Parts Advisor of the Year Awards that year as well. Furthermore, CES parts advisors became the UK’s first group of completely Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) approved parts advisors.
When customers see the CES logo on delivery vans, they know that inside will be a high quality part, delivered exactly when they need it. Customers are always its main focus, they’re central to everything CES does. Always saying ‘yes’ when others can’t requires technical expertise, knowledge and stock availability, so that customers are delighted, not disappointed.
CES is responsible for employing over 500 members of staff, supplying complete solutions to thousands of independent garages across the North-West, Midlands and North-Wales. Its vans run throughout the day from 8am to 6pm. For customers close to our branches, receiving a part in 30 minutes is the rule not the exception. It’s this level of customer service and commitment to self-development that keeps CES UK operating at such a high level.
